What CAN’T you do with a multiverse?
Where do you think Eternals falls, MCU theme-wise? Is it a Guardians-style “cosmic” movie, or will it be a more Captain Marvel “empowered terrestrial” form? Or maybe more magic-leaning “Loki”, or even something completely new? Only time will tell.
Naturally Disney had to make me look bad yet again, by listing the official Disney+ release date for the movie as January 12th, the day after I called it for coming before Christmas. I definitely think they are still spying on the show as we are recording.
I’m extremely glad that it sounds like Charlie Cox is still in the MCU as Matt Murdock, and while that seems as official as it could get coming from Kevin Feige, the rumors of Vincent D’Onofrio showing up sometime in the last two episodes of Hawkeye would cement the Netflix shows officially into the MCU in some fashion, if it actually happens. I still think that Disney will use “multiverse” as an excuse for a lot of annoying continuity issues that arise from bringing in these outside semi-canonical characters.
Fine by me! If the Man Without Fear has to come from another dimension to exist within the mainline MCU, so be it. That would also offer a convenient explanation as to why The Hand and The Ten Rings never ran into each other in all of the centuries of controlling every major historical event from the shadows.
What other ways do you think Disney will leverage the convenience of a multiverse as a storytelling skeleton key?
